Camino Journal: Entry No. 1

Part 1: Preparing

02.01.18

As I begin the Camino de Santiago with journaling in preparation for my pilgrimage this September, I feel compelled to write what I’ve come to know thus far as a wife, mother and human being. Yes, this feels like the place to begin. With who I am now. I look forward to – and am open to – how I will grow on this journey and to witnessing my transformation through my words and experiences, through the trials, triumphs and truths I find along The Way.

Buen Camino, Angela.

This I Know…

I am a creative soul with a huge heart

I am a seeker of truth, beauty and goodness

I am a channel for love and light

And I desire to connect others to their own truth

How will you use your gifts now, sweet soul?

I am flawed, but I am also brave, bold and beautiful

I am skinny, but I am strong in body, mind and spirit

I believe that love is the way – it is what unites us all

I believe that with an open heart anything is possible

How will you let yourself shine even brighter?

I love my husband and my children with all that I am

I need to learn to love myself more than I do

I need to trust and let go more than I do

I need to step out of fear and fly

Note to self for the zillionth time: You are worthy.

I feel the need to leave behind the distractions of this life

I feel the need to take the time to be quiet and to listen

At 50 years old, I am wise, but I have so much to learn – so much

I’m eager to be a better version of me

Open your heart and mind to the lessons of your soul, sister.

And so I begin

Sono luce. (My Italian for “I am light.”)

P.S. Fun fact: This pink leather journal was handmade in Italy and purchased at Homegoods. Much of my DNA is already in this little book!
