Abundance and Flow on the Camino

This morning, we were greeted with the most spectacular stars alongside a beautiful crescent moon. The yard of the palace where we were staying was a fairy land as the sun rose and we did our yoga to the beautiful sound of roosters crowing, birds singing and the dogs of the town waking up. It was colder than it first felt when we got out there, so yoga was cut short a bit so that we could feel our fingers!

Breakfast was amazingly and lovingly prepared and served by the proprietor. We were surprised with warm milk for the coffee and home made scrambled eggs.

We all hopped on the bus for our morning meeting where we learned from Hugh that the words for the day were abundance and flow. Yoga’s theme had been connection, and as there are no mistakes on the Camino, we marveled at how both sessions were on the perfect theme! Hugh explained that the world is full of abundance and we need only to understand about its abundant and limitless nature so that we could drop our fear of lack and step into the flow of who we truly are. A much lighter and more fun task than the forgiveness of the day before, for sure!

We were dropped off exactly where we had been picked up and set off walking for the day. This was our first day without fog, but it felt nice to be in the sun after the chilly morning. We all walked together and apart through the fairy land that is the Camino. Because Jose has us off stage now, many of us reported having long long stretches where we were the only ones walking. We got to marvel at the abundant aromas, both pleasant and unpleasant, the corn, the flowing streams and the love of the other pilgrims. Off stage, we end up with some of the slower pilgrims, so there is less rushing and more time to chat. I was happy to run into the man with the donkey, who I had expected to see yesterday. He explained that he moved because his donkey had fallen into a flood in the old place! It was nice to see a familiar face, and I reflected as I walked on how it must be to be him - trusting fully in the abundant universe to provide, living with a donkey on the Camino de Santiago, talking to people and making jewelry!

We all enjoyed stopping at the bar decorated with beer bottles, and some even had a drink and added their names to the bottles decorating the bar. Abundant is an understatement when one describes the bottles in and surrounding this bar! Jose was waiting with yet another feast. He even took the left over wine and sugar from our despacho ceremony in Lugo and converted them into a sangria made trail side! His skills have no end!

The afternoon was sweet with even more time alone on the path.

We met and hopped on our bus, driven by Suso, as usual. He is a nice, understated man, who is very kind and helpful with our bags! Suso got us safely to our accommodation, which is another palace. Very different from yesterday but also lovely. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds in our own ways.

We joined for a dinner of pumpkin squash, chicken and potatoes, with a flan for dessert, and tucked ourselves into beds, with mixed feelings about ending the walk tomorrow.
