Birdsong

I listen as I walk,

Today hearing the birdsong of countless winged souls

Singing as they congregate in the field,

Singing as they rest on tree limbs,

Singing as they take flight.

I listen as I walk,

What are you saying blackbirds?

Are you celebrating another warm October day?

Are you joyful to be here with so many friends?

Are you making plans for your winter journey?

I listen as I walk,

Each step guided by the energy of this place

Of the birds, of the earth, of the light on my face

Of gratitude for the grace of being here on this path

And joyful for the awareness to drink it all in.
